Di sini sang modifikator hanya mngubah pada tangki dan buritan. Seperti tangki memainkan ornamen kondom agar sedikit gembung. Sedang bagian belakang dan bawahnya masih bawaan asli.

Sedang bagian buritan digunakan bahan fiber sebagai penutup jok. Modelnya bikin sendiri dengan menonjolkan aksen lancip dan rapat. Sehingga detail bodi secara keseluruhan jadi terlihat selaras. Dan undertail ikut dipermak, membuat tampilan jadi lebih sip.

Jeep Perang Jadi "Hot Rod"

ARIZONA - Umumnya jip oleh pemiliknya ditinggikan, selain tampilan lebih macho, juga untuk menaklukkan jalan non-aspal. Beda sama Randy yang punya Jeep "Willys" CJ-2A tahun 1945 justru dibikin pendek menjadi hot rod. "Inilah yang akan dilakukan penyuka jip offroad saat mereka juga suka hot rod," kata Randy.

Apa yang sudah dibuat Randy dan timnya nyatanya tak pernah dibayangkan orang. Pasalnya, penyuka hot rod tidak akan memilih badan Willys untuk dimodifikasi. Sebaliknya, penyuka jip akan memasangkan suspensi jangkung supaya mobil itu jago saat melumpur.

Randy pun memenuhi dua syarat kendaraan hot rod sejati. Pertama, mobil itu punya bagian-bagian asli bawaan pabrik. Kedua, si pemodifikasi punya trik-trik supaya budget bisa dipangkas.

Sasis. Bagian ini dibangun secara custom dari potongan besi 2 inci x 3 inci dengan ketebalan dinding 0,120 inci. Lalu, beberapa bagian diambil dari Chevrolet Pick Up 1977. Ada knuckle, spindle, hub, dan rotor yang kemudian dipasangkan ke lengan ayun depan buatan sendiri. Sementara itu, as roda campuran dari besi tabung berdiameter 2 inci berketebalan 0,250 inci dan pelat baja 3/8 inci.

Bagaimana jip seceper ini bisa tetap jalan? Ada empat kantong udara yang yang berfungsi menaikkan sokbreker depan (Kayaba) dan belakang (Rancho), sehingga sasis berjarak 5-7 inci dari tanah tetap aman saat melibas medan bertanah. Kalau dimodifikasi cepar pada sedan, banyak menggunakan air suspensi untuk menaikkan bodi mobil. Randy yang pemilik Randy Ellis Design menggunakan kompresor udara buatan China (ia tak menyebut merk dan dikatakannya harganya ekonomis, tetapi hasilnya lumayan) untuk mengoperasikan kantung udara tersebut.

Bodi. Walau terlihat asli, bagian belakang (bak) jip itu sebenarnya dari serat kaca. Bangun ulang diperlukan supaya perangkat kompresor, as yang tertanam di tengah, dan perangkat lainnya bisa dimuat di situ. Namun, rangka kaca depan masih asli, hanya memang dipotong supaya menguatkan kesan ceper.

Total potongan bagian rangka kaca depan adalah 9 inci. Sebanyak 4 inci dari besi bagian bawah dan 5 inci dari atas kaca. Untuk mempertahankan kesan "Willys", kaca masih bisa diliukkan ke atas.

Mesin. Luar boleh vintage, tetapi isi mesin tetap menunjang. Dalam pembangunan yang memakan waktu 5 minggu ini, Randy menyematkan mesin Chevy 350 V-8 dengan transmisi matik 3-percepatan. Di atas roda dengan velg 15 x 8 Pro Comp yang dibalut ban 31 x 10 50R15 General Grabber MT, jip CJ-2A milik Randy masih bisa "menggelinding" dengan kecepatan 110 km per jam lebih.

Modifikasi Yamaha Byson Sesuai Selera Pemiliknya

JAKARTA, - Bentuk Yamaha Byson dengan ban besar dan setang Fatbar sebenarnya sudah macho. Tapi oleh sang pemilik seperti Made Andy darim Kalimantan Barat, Rudi Tanumihardjo asal Jakarta dan Abdul Rahim dari Depok, tampilan sepeda motor sport Yamaha itu perlu dibikin lebih berotot.

Konsep bolt-on Made yang tinggal di Sanggau, Kalimantan Barat berkeinginan Bysonnya bergaya streetfighter. urusan modifikasi dipercayakan pada Berkat Motor (BM) di Tangerang, Banten. "Konsep yang diterapkan bolt-on, jadi tidak ada yang perlu dipotong," tegas Rudy Gunawan, owner BM.

Hanya, lanjut Rudy, karena 'baju' Byson terlalu ramping, maka ditambah menggunakan fiberglass agar bisa mencuat ke luar dengan tampilan agak menyiku. Dan pemasangannya tak perlu memotong cover lain dan dudukan bautnya masih pakai cover tutup samping. Untuk mengisi kekosongan di bawah tangki dibikin deltabox pakai fiberglass, termasuk juga tutup cover bawah mesin dengan desain mengambil dari Deinese.

Agar lebih kekar, pelek standar diganti punya moge Suzuki GSX400. Hanya ukuran belakang 18 inci lebih besar ketimbang depan 17 inci.Dipilihnya pelek GSX karena Made ingin pakai double disk di depan.

Minimalis Beda dengan Rudi Tanumihardjo. Ia merasa bagian bawah Byson perlu dipermanis lagi karena tak imbang antara tangki yang besar, tapi di bawahnya melompong. Selain engine cover, juga dibikin side cover sehingga membuat di seputar mesin jadi lebih penuh.

Karena ada penambahan bodi tentu berefek pada bobot kian berat dan tenaga pun berkurang. Di sini Rudi mengganti CDI dengan yang tidak ada limiternya. Tak cuma itu, koil standar ikut diganti dengan buatan Scorpio.

Rasa India Sementara Rahim ingin sepeda motornya seperti Byson India bernama Fazer yang kuat dengan fairing di depan.Kebetulan ia punya banyak teman di negeri sari, sehingga bisa pesan satu set bodi Fazer.

Begitu datang, enggak langsung dipasang karena enggak ada dudukannya. Dibuatkanlah breket dengan cara yang sedikit beda. Pertama, bagian rangka yang akan ditempeli breket dikasih semacam penambahan daging dengan cara dilas. Baru kemudin di bor supaya breket bisa dibaut.

Untuk lampu belakang, Rahim memilih punya Kawasaki ZX-6 karena bentuknya yang modern. Supaya tidak merusak bodi asli, dibikinkan bodi baru dari fiber sebagai rumahnya. jadi, deh.
